The vibe bar saga - part 3
Here's the kicker to the story - when we
got
home, there was a message from another Asheville Mama (who, of course,
didn't know we had gotten the bars back) saying that HER husband had
seen the case. He had spotted it on the sidewalk outside Barley's
on Monday morning, and then noticed that it was gone when he passed by
again that
night. I'm so glad we didn't hear about that before we got
everything back.
So, there were lots of fascinating aspects to this whole sequence of
events. What are the chances that out of the small local network
of people to whom I sent my e-mail plea, TWO of them would
know someone who had interacted with this missing object? And
that everything would still be in its hiding place two days after being
noticed by a restaurant employee on a smoke break who happened to be
married to a woman who happened to be in a parenting group with the
wife of the guy who owned the missing case? And furthermore,
where was the case between the time it was taken on Monday and the time
it showed up behind the restaurant Friday night?
I wish I could convey what an intense experience this has been for me.
I'm still, 5 days later as I write this, floating in a sea of
something I can't quite identify. Lots of thoughts about
priorities, and karma, and social relativity, and the methods by
which the universe chooses to teach us lessons...there will definitely
be some
writing on all this in the "musing" section soon.
But for now, I
just want to say thanks to everybody. My elation is heightened by
the fact that so many of you were so generous to me in my despair.
